Thomas Jay Oord is a theologian, philosopher, and scholar of multi-disciplinary studies. He is presently at Northwest Nazarene University. He is a visiting Professor at the Lutheran School of Theology. in June gave a paper in the Process theology session at Seizing the Alternative - toward an ecological civilization.
He is the author or editor of more than twenty books. Oord is known for his contributions to research on love, open and relational theology, science and religion, and theologies exploring the implications of freedom in society. In his works he tackles a major challenge in developing a constructive doctrine of God - evil, science, religious pluralism and providence.
He will be giving a public lecture on March 31at Kitchissippi United Church at 7:30. The Uncontrolling Love of God. He will address the issue of evil (theodicy) and the love of God.
There will be an interactive gathering April 1 to 3, at the Madawaska Institute. Because of space there is limit to that retreat/event. The cost will be $250 for the April 1 to 3 event You will need to register early to have a space in the seasons from April 1 to 3.
His latest book that came out in Dec is: The Uncontrolling Love of God: An Open and Relational Account of Providence. There he engages the randomness and regularity of life, freedom and agency, evil from the view of a non-coercive love of God, the uncontrolling love that is in relation to creation.
